Our success and future are tied to ingenious thinkers. GoodCell’s name is inspired by Dr. Good, one of the researchers who laid the foundations for transplanting healthy bone marrow into people with diseased immune systems. He referred to it as cellular engineering. Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, awarded a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2012 for the discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed to become “pluripotent,” is yet another ingenious thinker making GoodCell possible. Two of the foremost experts applying Dr. Yamanaka’s breakthrough discovery with iPS type stem cells – Dr. Joseph Wu, MD, PhD, Director, Stanford Cardiovascular Institute; and Dr. Kevin Eggan, PhD, Principal Investigator, Harvard Stem Cell Institute – serve on GoodCell’s Scientific Advisory Board and are working to apply these advancements in the field of regenerative medicine today.
